On Sunday, I went to the local Sikh temple for a meal. There, I made a small donation and cleaned up the garbage bin of the dining hall. It made me feel part of that community, and my act was appreciated by some in the temple.

Yesterday was an extremely hot day in the city and on my lunch break I thought of a homeless man I see often and try to help with some money when I can. I wondered if he\'d be there and if anyone thought to offer him some water. I bought a bottle and found him on the sidewalk. I was amazed that no one thought to help him and he was so grateful when I handed him a bottle and some money. It only took a few dollars and a few minutes of my time to help someone.

I've been getting coffee from a local coffee shop that's a couple blocks away from my house. I'm glad I can support a local business and also start off my morning with a nice walk

I picked up some garbage on the way home because it was on the road, obstructing pedestrians.

On my way to get groceries or during a walk, I sometimes make eye contact with people passing by. In those moments, I offer a warm smile. It reminds me of what the Buddha once said to a beggar who claimed he had nothing to give: **"Don’t you have even a smile to offer?"**

Whenever possible, I choose to dine out at places within walking distance from home and do my grocery shopping at local markets I can walk to. Instead of going to large franchise coffee shops, I support small, locally owned cafés and restaurants, helping to create a culture where the community and local businesses can thrive together.

I tried not to leave any food behind, thinking of those who have less and go hungry. I reminded myself that everything in front of me is the result of someone’s unseen efforts, and I felt gratitude and humility. Each day, I make small acts of giving to help neighbors in need.

My friend was very distraught because she had a huge fight with her daughter. I stayed with her on the phone and talked through the conflict till she managed to calm down. Next day her daughter and she were able to sort out their differences and avert an escalation of the fight

As part of my parent teacher association work, I had a volunteer appreciation day this week. We thanked the volunteers and presented them with plants as thank you gifts
