03/18Wind MakerAfter three long months, I finally went to a beauty salon for a haircut. The feeling of freshness that comes with my new short hair has lifted my spirits just like the arrival of spring. After dinner I went for a walk and soaked in the gorgeous sunset. Yesterday, I walked 9,000 steps, and today walked 5,000 steps. Yellow daffodils, forsythia flowers, and purple magnolias are blooming everywhere I look. Spring is alive and breathing. I am grateful to be able to enjoy the beauty of this spring in my daily life.

03/17Being HappierAfter passing several windy and chilly days, I went for a walk today and saw flowering-pear trees in full bloom. These pear blossoms are a common sight in the DC Metro Area in the spring, appearing before the cherry blossoms. As I enjoyed in the beauty of the spring scenery, I felt warm and peaceful. Every day is a fresh new day.

03/15Wind MakerEvery day, I make mistakes, but I am okay with it because until yesterday, everything was practice in my life. Today, I am starting my life anew. I learned this wonderful teaching through Jungto Dharma School, where you can also learn Buddha's wisdom and how it can be applied in your daily life. Changing habits (karma) is not easy. "Transforming" is a more fitting word than "changing" because I think habits are a kind of addiction. I believe there are three steps to transform my habits (karma). First, I need to notice or detect my actions of body and mind. Second, I need to stop doing what I want to do or start doing what I don't want to do. Third, I need to keep practicing these steps continuously and consistently, even if I fail on the first and second steps. Lately, I have been enjoying checking these three steps. I check what I am doing, which step I may have failed, and it makes me happy to track my progress. After organizing my thoughts, I feel much cleaner in my mind and lighter. I am confident that I can transform my habits (karma) by following these three steps.
