Today I joined Homelessness Australia as a member & registered to attend the Online Homelessness Week Launch on Aug 5 2024. Even though I can\’t donate a home, I feel like I am doing something by being part of a Launch & signing a petition to increase no. budget homes available for low-income earners. I was shocked to read that in Victoria, (Australia) 99% of Melbourne rentals are unaffordable for people on welfare. 1.6M new homes are needed by 2051 (in 27 yrs) & 1 in 4 home owners currently experience mortgage stress.
